Questions before the quest?

A cooperative fantasy roleplaying game played standing up in real physical space. The Guide runs the adventure while players move and make decisions as their Heroes, drawing from Defense Bags to attack and defend.

The recommended starting group is one Guide plus two to four players. No actual limit but the available space and run times should be considered for larger numbers of player.

Use whatever safe space suits the group and encounter: one room, connected rooms, corridors or a suitable outdoor area. The Guide adapts the setup.

No. ASQ has no board, grid or miniature-moving substitute for physical play. Printed materials support what happens in the room.

Everyone uses the same Step chosen by the Guide. About 3 feet is recommended, but the Guide can choose another safe shared distance.

Players use a safe soft object against a separate target. The piece’s resting position helps resolve the attempt. Never throw at people.

The current suggested age is 10+. That guidance remains subject to playtesting. The system is setup as a framework, we recommend the guide adjust anything needed for the indented space and players. Simply for younger or add complexity and harder challenges for older or experienced players.

Current expectations are 10–20 minutes to set up and about 60–90 minutes to play. These are provisional playtest expectations, not guarantees. Published content will have setup, play time, age, etc. descriptions to help you choose what to play.

The Guide prepares the space, describes the scene, runs threats, judges results and keeps play safe.

ASQ uses printed references, Defense Bags and matching pieces, targets and soft toss objects. Many props can come from household items. The free Props Reference explains useful equipment and alternatives; follow the rules for the required setup.
